Bio

Erin Bass, Associate Professor of Management and James R. Schumacher Chair of Ethics, obtained her Ph.D. in strategic management from the University of Nebraska. Since 2014, Bass has been a valued faculty member within the College of Business Administration at the University of Nebraska Omaha, where she imparts her knowledge to students across various academic levels. Her instructional repertoire encompasses undergraduate, graduate, and executive courses, covering topics such as strategy, leadership, and business ethics.


Bass's scholarly contributions extend beyond the classroom. She has published her academic research in a variety of top tier journals, including the Journal of International Business Studies, the Academy of Management Review, and the Academy of Management Journal, among others. With a commitment to advancing both theoretical understanding and practical applications, Bass's research has garnered international recognition and has been instrumental in shaping scholarly discourse in strategy and business ethics. Furthermore, her insights have reverberated beyond academia, as evidenced by her engagements as an esteemed speaker for various esteemed organizations, including the Independent Energy Human Resources Association and the FBI.

In addition to her academic pursuits, Bass actively contributes to the strategic initiatives of the National Counterterrorism Institute for Training and Education (NCITE). In her capacity as a business strategist, she plays a pivotal role in shaping the center's long-term strategy. Additionally, Bass leads a workforce development project that facilitates collaborative engagements between business students and stakeholders from the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). Through this initiative, students and faculty alike have undertaken projects of substantial import for DHS end-users, demonstrating Bass's commitment to fostering practical, real-world impact.


A native of Calgary, Canada, Bass has a background in the energy and nonprofit sectors. She serves as the board president for Heart Heroes, a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing support to families affected by congenital heart disease. Through her multifaceted career trajectory, Bass exemplifies a steadfast dedication to scholarly excellence, practical relevance, and societal impact.
