Exploratory & Pre-Health Advising in the MAC

MAC advisors are here to help you explore your options, develop a plan, and confidently take your next steps at UNO.

Whether you are exploring majors and career paths or preparing for a future career in healthcare, our advisors can help you connect your interests and goals with the right academic and experiential opportunities.

Schedule an Advising Appointment

Current UNO students can schedule an appointment with an Exploratory and Pre-Health Advisor through MavCONNECT.

Appointments are available in-person or via Zoom, with availability varying by advisor.

  • When scheduling, select the appointment type that best fits your needs and indicate whether you would like to meet in person or virtually.

Preparing for Your Appointment

Most advising appointments are approximately 30 minutes. To make the most of your appointment:

  • Come prepared with questions or topics you would like to discuss.
  • If discussing future courses, review available classes ahead of time.
  • Add courses you are considering to your shopping cart when possible.
  • Bring any information or questions related to programs or professional schools you are considering.

How We Advise Our Students

Exploratory Studies Students

Not sure what you want to major in yet? That’s okay! We can help you explore majors, interests, strengths, and career possibilities while developing an academic plan that keeps you moving toward graduation.

Pre-Health Students

If you are preparing for a career in health care, we can help you understand prerequisites and build a competitive application for your intended professional program.

Pre-Health advising may include:

  • Course and prerequisite planning
  • Exploring health care careers and pathways
  • Shadowing and volunteering
  • Patient care and health care experience
  • Extracurricular involvement
  • Application timelines and preparation
  • Entrance exam planning and test preparation
  • Study strategies and academic support

Students pursuing a major in addition to a pre-health pathway should continue meeting with their major or program advisor for major requirements.

New Students

Newly admitted UNO students should complete Orientation and become familiar with UNO resources and next steps before scheduling an advising appointment.

Drop-In Advising

Drop-in advising is available at select times throughout the semester for current Exploratory Studies and Pre-Health students.

Drop-ins are first come, first served and are best for quick questions or advising needs that can typically be addressed in 15 minutes or less. For more in-depth conversations, please schedule an appointment through MavCONNECT.

Fall 2026: Wednesdays from 9:30 A.M. to 12:00 P.M. in 117 Eppley Administration.
