Learn more about networking opportunities for full-time faculty at UNO. These groups are known as Communities of Practice (CoPs) and include Writing Accountability Groups (WAGs) and former Faculty Leadership Forums (FLFs).
Communities of Practice (CoPs) and Faculty Leadership Forums (FLFs) have merged!
The 2023-24 academic year will merge the CoP and FLF application and reporting process together under the CoP name with new outcome and reporting guidelines, outlined below. If you have questions regarding these guidelines or the eligibility for past CoPs/FLFs within this new framework, please send us an email.
General Requirements
CoPs must have a minimum of three members and align with at least one of the following categories:
- Writing Accountability, Research, or Creative Activity
- Student Engagement
- Competency-Based Education

At the time of application, CoPs must detail three expected outcomes and expected members, including facilitator and members' units and email addresses. Applications will be completed via Qualtrics by the stated due date posted on CFE’s website. To be eligible for CoP end-of-year funding, members must be full-time faculty. CoPs may include members who are not full-time UNO faculty, but those members will not be eligible for funds through CFE.
At the conclusion of the academic year, CoP facilitators must submit a report documenting the completion of one of the requirements listed below. To receive funding, each CoP member’s achievements must be included in the report.
Registration

Pay:
Individuals may participate in or facilitate as many CoPs as desired, but can only receive compensation for one CoP.
Participants:- $100 paid as professional development funds
- 3-10 members: $150 paid as professional development funds
- 10+ members: $300 paid as professional development funds
Writing Accountability, Research, or Creative Activity CoP
To receive funding each CoP member must document authoring/co-authoring one (or more) of the following during the academic year (fall or spring semester):
- Submitted or accepted manuscript, journal article, chapter, book proposal, or other academic/creative publication
- Submitted or accepted IRB proposal
- Submitted or accepted grant proposal (may be internal or external)
- Submitted or accepted conference presentation, performance, or exhibit
Documentation/evidence to support completion of this requirement can include an IRB# or academic citation (other evidence may be considered, please email CFE for approval prior to submitting report).
Student Engagement CoP
To receive funding, each CoP member must have evidence of at least one of the following achievements during the academic year.
- Member may identify a student engagement strategy implemented in an in-person, hybrid, or asynchronous class. Member-provided evidence includes:
- List of course(s) in which strategy was implemented.
- Brief (3-5 sentences) description/reflection on outcome.
- Members may document active participation in the planning or delivery of an event attended by 20 or more students. Member-provided evidence includes:
- Title, date, and approximate attendance of the event.
- Brief (3-5 sentences) description/reflection on outcome.
- Members may support a FUSE, GRACA, or work/study student research program. Member-provided evidence includes:
- Title of project, type of project, and student name.
- Brief (3-5 sentences) description/reflection on outcome.

- Other initiatives supporting student engagement and report requirements must be reviewed and approved by CFE at the time of application.
