Communities of Practice

  1. UNO
  2. Center for Faculty Excellence
  3. Professional Development Resources
  4. Communities of Practice

Communities of Practice (CoPs) are incentivized networks that support UNO’s Pillars of 1) Educating All Learners 2) Research and Discovery. These faculty-led groups meet at least three times throughout the academic year and support each other in implementing effective practices in teaching or scholarship. In 2024-25, CoP funding will support groups that address writing/research/creative activity, student success, and general education.

General Requirements

CoPs must have a minimum of three members and align with at least one of the following categories:

  1. Writing Accountability, Research, or Creative Activity
  2. Student Success
  3. General Education

At the time of application, CoPs must detail three expected outcomes and expected members, including facilitator and members' units and email addresses. Applications must be completed via Qualtrics by the stated due date posted on CFE’s website. To be eligible for CoP end-of-year funding, members must be full-time faculty. CoPs may include members who are not full-time UNO faculty, but those members will not be eligible for funds through CFE.

At the conclusion of the academic year, CoP facilitators must submit a report 1) attesting that each member to be paid attended three or more CoP meetings and 2) documenting the completion of one of the requirements listed below. To receive funding, each CoP member’s achievements must be included in the report.
