Federal Employment Totals by State

There were approximately 2.9 million federal employees nationwide in Dec. 2020, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. The U.S. Postal Service — a quasi-public entity — employs about 628,000 workers, more than any other federal agency.
