May 2024 Management Advisory Board Meeting

Monday May 6th, 2024

Student Panelist: Ellen Vogltanz, Filo Habib, Johnnah Bailey, & Zach DelSenno

This spring semester’s Management Advisory Board Meeting at UNO CBA included a very notable highlight, the “Student Spotlight Panel”, where four exceptional students shared their perspectives and experiences with board members. The panelists—Ellen Vogltanz, Filo Habib, Johnnah Bailey, and Zach DelSenno—had the opportunity to express various personal testimonies, offering valuable insights into their management education journey and future career aspirations.

The discussion revolved around crucial questions, providing a deep understanding of the students' motivations and experiences within choosing a management concentration at UNO CBA. Beginning with introducing themselves and touching on where their interests in the management program began, panelist like Johnnah B., concentrating in Management & cross-sector collaboration of leadership, and Zach D., concentrating in Management, Marketing, & Sales, were able to show advisory board members the dynamic differences offered within CBA education paths to accommodate individual student’s interests.

One of the most impactful points to the event included the panelists' insights into where they expect to grow within the management field, shedding light on the career trajectories and ambitions of tomorrow's leaders. This exchange of student testimonies not only enriched the meeting but also fueled further conversations among board members about the future goals of the department, strategies to enhance student success, and solutions to overcome current resource challenges. Panelist Ellen V. and Filo H. are both graduating seniors who are part of the winning finalist team for the Spring 24’ Capstone Cup. Both students mentioned to board members that UNO CBA’s faculty support, vast internship opportunity with Omaha businesses like UP & Medical Solutions, and high involvement with student organizations like CBA Scholars Academy & Human Resource Association, are all major attributes to why they believe they are prepared to be successful individuals within the management field.

The diverse backgrounds and aspirations of the Student Spotlight Panelists provided a comprehensive view of the strengths and opportunities within UNO CBA's management concentrations. With Advisory Board members comprising of influential leaders from Omaha's community organizations and companies, this dialogue between panelist and board members served as a catalyst for collaborative efforts to fostering high-achieving leaders and implementing beneficial curriculum standards for the UNO CBA Management Department to match the evolving demands of the management field.
