The Executive MBA program is a hybrid 17-month, weekend program. A total of 30 credit hours are needed for completion of the Executive MBA Program at UNO.
EMBA Program Orientation
You will not need to take any business course prerequisites prior to entering the EMBA program. Program orientation will get you and your classmates on the same page before you begin your classes. Students will however, need to complete fundamental accounting and economics coursework before classes begin. This permits Executive MBA faculty to spend less time going over fundamentals and more time on information that is immediately applicable to your job.
Online Synchronous Sessions
Online synchronous sessions will occur each week of class on Saturdays from 8AM - 11AM CT.
In-person Residencies
There are 6 on-campus residencies throughout the 17-month Executive MBA program. Residencies include in-person instruction and cohort collaboration. This includes program orientation and graduation.
Cohort Program
The Executive MBA is a cohort-based program designed for experienced professionals. Students begin with the Core Business curriculum (Module 1), building a strong foundation in executive-level management. The cohort then advances together into Module 2: Strategic & Digital Enterprise Leadership, focusing on strategy, digital transformation, AI, analytics, financial innovation, and organizational agility. The program concludes with the Strategy Dilemma Capstone Project, where students apply their learning to complex, real-world business challenges.
Certificate Option
UNO’s Executive MBA features a modular structure. Module 1 — Executive Business Foundations — awards the Executive Graduate Certificate in Business and may be completed as a stand-alone credential or as the first step toward the EMBA. Students who continue into the full program progress to Module 2 — Strategic & Digital Enterprise Leadership — followed by the Strategy Dilemma Capstone to complete the Executive MBA degree.
Student-Designed & Project-Based Capstone
In the Capstone course, students conduct an integrative applied project for their current organization (or another organization of choice). Students are supervised and mentored by expert faculty throughout the 8 week project.
