Background
Pamela Bennett received her Masters in American Indian Studies and her doctorate in History at the University of Arizona in Tucson. She is mixed-blood Cherokee, Eastern Band descent, on her father's side. She has taught Native history, U.S. History and Sociology courses at UNO and is currently working on a book proposal about the experiences of Native servicewomen during WWII. This book will also look at their childhood, reasons for joining the service, service training and experience and how their experience impacted the activism for their Native communities after discharge. She has various other publications including a book chapter, "Natives in the Military" co-authored with Tom Holm.
She enjoys documentaries, reading heroic fantasy for pure escapism, and being with family and friends, including her 3 dogs: 2 Flat-Coated Retrievers and 1 Newfoundland. When time allows, she also enjoys doing Native beadwork and leather craftwork.
