Background
Steve studies the medieval Mediterranean and Middle East and is interested in topics ranging from the expansion of Islam into North Africa to how mental illness was perceived, understood, and treated in the Christian West as opposed to the Islamic East. Steve graduated from the University of Iowa in 2018 with a B.A. in History, a minor in the Arabic language, and a Medieval Studies certificate. After leaving Iowa, he spent 8 months teaching English in Madrid, Spain before returning to work on his Master’s in History at UNO. After earning his M.A. degree, he intends to pursue a Ph.D.
