Background
Dan studies warfare in the ancient world, with a focus on economics and mercenary service in the Greek world during the Fourth Century BCE. Following his retirement from the military, he returned to the full time study of history. During his undergraduate years at the University of Utah, he was able to attend the American School of Classical Studies at Athens, as well as participated in numerous conferences. After completing his BA at Utah he taught high school mostly to Native American students in the Southwest. After completion of his MA, he intends to pursue the completion of his PhD continuing to explore economic impacts of mercenary service in antiquity.
