For Students Interested in Becoming Pharmacists
This program guides students through the requirements for admission to professional pharmacy degree programs. Students are strongly encouraged to choose a major of interest and follow the requirements for that major while completing the necessary pre-pharmacy courses. It is common for students to choose science majors to complement the pre-pharmacy curriculum, however, majors may be chosen from any areas of interest.
UNMC’s College of Pharmacy requires a minimum of 64 credit hours of college credit is required prior to applying. Preference is usually given to students who have received a bachelor’s degree. UNMC’s College of Pharmacy will accept Advanced Placement (AP) credits recorded on undergraduate transcripts toward satisfaction of pre-pharmacy requirements. A maximum of 24 pre-pharmacy credit hours may be accepted through CLEP examinations. Please refer to UNMC’s College of Pharmacy website for detailed information.
Creighton University’s College of Pharmacy requires a minimum of 63 credit hours before entering the program. Preference is given to Creighton students.
Creighton will accept pre-pharmacy courses given credit through AP and/or CLEP examinations.
- The PCAT is required.
- To be competitive, a minimum GPA of 3.0 is needed.
- No grade below “C” will be accepted.
