For Students Interested in Becoming Clinical Laboratory Scientists
Clinical Laboratory Scientists are responsible for the development, performance, and evaluation of laboratory testing. The focus of this program is in biological sciences, chemistry, mathematics and English composition. Strong analytical skills and the ability to communicate results are vital to patient medical care and clinical research.
For consideration for admission to the University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC), School of Allied Health Professions Clinical Laboratory Science Program, students must complete 77 credit hours by the end of the spring semester prior (three years) to enrolling at UNMC for their senior year. Other schools may have different requirements, so it is important to research the school you would like to attend prior to enrolling in any courses.
UNMC’s CLS Program will not accept AP, CLEP, or DANTES credit toward the English Composition, Mathematics, or Science requirements. Any AP, CLEP, or DANTES credit earned in these categories will be used as elective prerequisite credit only.
