AFROTC Detachment 470 AFROTC programs across the nation provide excellent opportunities to get involved in the United States Air Force and build a career out of it. Detachment 470 not only provides the skills to become an excellent leader, but it goes beyond and helps build loyal wingman. The Wolfpack allows cadets to truly understand the benefits and hardships of being an officer in the Air Force while not overwhelming them and allowing them to still have an average "college" life. The Wolfpack is actively involved in the Omaha community, regularly meets together to create a sense of unity among cadets, and has a friendly rivalry between the Army ROTC Detachment at Creighton.

Greetings from Air Force ROTC Detachment 470 and welcome to our website! Detachment 470 is hosted at the University of Nebraska Omaha (UNO) and holds several cross-town agreements with other universities, including Creighton University, Bellevue University, and others. Our mission is straightforward: to Develop Quality Leaders for the Air Force. Accomplishing this mission entails academic instruction, physical training, and character development to prepare cadets for leadership as officers in the United States Air Force.

Detachment 470, also known as the Wolfpack, was established at UNO in 1951. At that time, the university was one of 62 institutions chosen from a field of nearly 600 schools seeking to host an AFROTC unit. The detachment benefits from its proximity to Offutt Air Force Base, home of U.S. Strategic Command and the Air Force’s 55th Wing. Detachment 470 cadets have opportunities to interact with Air Force personnel and listen to guest speakers from Offutt AFB who provide expertise and perspectives as active duty officers.

We invite you to explore our website to learn more about AFROTC in general and Detachment 470 specifically. If you have questions, you may also contact our recruiting flight commander, Capt Mark A. Sheldon, at telephone number 402-554-2437 or by email at msheldon@unomaha.edu.
