Middle and High School field trips to Samuel Bak Museum: The Learning Center are offered free of charge. Our field trips are an opportunity for students in various curriculums to study art, history, the Holocaust and related human rights topics.
Field trips include:
- A 15-minute tour of the current Museum exhibition on display (Flight and Hope explores how Samuel Bak’s postwar experiences of fleeing Sovie rule, living in a displaced person camp and of rebuilding a life in Israel after migration influences his artwork as well as a look at global forced migration in 2023)
- Instruction and participation in a slow-looking activity to better observe and discuss works of art in the current exhibition.
- Educators will then choose 1-2 additional activities structured around their classroom learning objectives.
Field trips generally last 2 hours and can accommodate up to 70 students. Funding is available as reimbursement for both busing/transportation as well as substitute costs. Field trips are offered primarily on Monday, Tuesday and Thursdays but we can offer flexible dates if needed. For Museum staff to provide you with the best Museum experience possible, we kindly ask that your field trip request be completed at least two weeks prior to an anticipated field trip date. Booking further in advance is highly recommended.
Additional, add-on opportunities are available such as touring the UNO Service-Learning Academy’s Undesign the Redline exhibition, Weber Fine Art’s Gallery or a University of Nebraska at Omaha campus tour.
