  4. Frequently Asked Questions About Visiting The UNO Health Center

College brings a lot of new responsibilities, including taking care of your health. The UNO Health Center makes it easy. Whether you’re sick, need a check-up, or have a concern, knowing how to access the health center ensures you get care when you need it.

The UNO Health Center is conveniently located on Dodge Campus inside the H&K Building (6001 Dodge Street), Suite 102. It is open Monday through Friday, 8 A.M. to 4 P.M., minus scheduled holiday closures. Please call 402.554.2374 or schedule an appointment online.

The UNO Health Center is open to all currently enrolled UNO students. Some services, including acute care, are also available to UNO faculty and staff.

You need an appointment to be seen at the UNO Health Center. Scheduling ahead helps keep wait times short. A limited number of same-day appointments are available each day, so call early in the morning for the best chance of securing one.

Scheduling is easy:

  • Call 402.554.2374.
  • Schedule online (for illness or injury visits) through our website.
  • After your first appointment, you can book follow-ups through the patient portal.

Illnesses and injuries don’t always follow business hours.

  • For life-threatening emergencies, always call 911.
  • For minor illnesses or injuries, urgent care is your best option. Nebraska Medicine Immediate Care Clinics (ICCs) are available evenings and weekends.

Note: Student fees do not cover after-hours, weekend or emergency medical care services.

Some services are covered by student fees, meaning no additional cost to you. Other services may incur a charge that can be paid out-of-pocket or billed to insurance.

Insurance isn’t required to be seen at the UNO Health Center. If you have insurance, bring your card (or a copy/picture of the front and back sides of the card) with you to every appointment.

By starting at the health center, you can save time and money while getting care from providers who understand student life.

Medical notes for missed classes may be provided on a case-by-case basis if the absence is related to a current, short-term medical illness. The UNO Health Center does not provide notes for classes and exams missed before a student’s in-clinic office visit. Students should communicate directly with their instructors if they missed any classes or exams due to illness, injury, or other personal matters.

Students may request a medical supervision notification for long-term or chronic medical conditions by contacting the Accessibility Services Center. The UNO Health Center may be able to assist with extended accommodation requests if appropriate and warranted.

The UNO Health Center reserves the right to not provide a medical note if doing so is not appropriate or consistent with the student’s current illness.
