What to expect at an annual physical:

  • Vital signs: height, weight, temperature, heart rate, respiration rate, and blood pressure
  • Medical history: immunizations, medications, family medical history, etc.
  • Head-to-toe exam: listening to heart and lungs, examining your body for visual cues that could indicate health issues
  • Labs and screenings: Your provider may order blood work or request additional screenings depending on your health risk factors and biological sex
  • Discussion: Be prepared to talk about your habits including diet, sleep, alcohol, and sexual activity

Benefits of an annual physical:

  • Get professional, evidence-based tips for living a healthier lifestyle to meet your goals
  • Catch warning signs of potential health risks
  • Make sure you’re up to date on immunizations
  • Establishes a relationship with a provider, so you can get the best care if you ever get sick or need help managing an injury or disease

Prevention is the key word for annual physicals. Even if you aren’t experiencing health issues right now, a physical exam allows you to prepare for the future.

The UNO Health Center provides annual physicals, health exams for women and men, and health assessments for students. Our on-campus location makes it convenient to schedule appointments in and around your busy schedule. Our providers specialize in college health and can provide the best advice to help you care for your well-being.

Call 402.554.2374 to schedule. Although physicals are not covered by student fees and will incur a charge, we can submit the cost to private insurance. Financial assistance is available to those who qualify.
