A new research brief has been released assessing the construct validity of the MPACT-6.
Extending prior assessments of the newly developed youth needs assessment – the Modified Positive Achievement Change Tool (MPACT) – researchers from NCJR (Krushas, Hamilton, & Kigerl) and California State - Los Angeles (Mei), assessed the tool’s construct validity across 10 states, multiple justice stages (e.g., diversion, probation, & parole), and with a large sample of youth (N~250,000). Findings identify reliability and validity of the tool’s domains and a composite scale (G-factor), with equality of measurement across race and gender. Policy implications indicate universal application of the MPACT for justice involved and cross-over youth.
