**Applications for the Elementary Accelerated Certification for Teachers (EACT) program will be accepted beginning November 15, 2024 through April 15, 2025 for the June 2025 cohort.**

Total Credits: 39 credits

  • Coursework for the Elementary Accelerated Certification for Teachers (EACT) program begins in the first summer session. These classes address initial education content which prepares candidates to begin working in classroom settings in the fall while continuing with additional courses.
  • After successful completion of the coursework in the second summer semester, EACT Candidates will be eligible for a Transitional Teaching Permit for the upcoming school year. This will allow them to be hired by a district to teach full-time in the classroom while working on their certification courses in the evenings and on weekends.


Application Requirements

Before beginning the application process, all potential candidates must meet with Dr. Jeni Langfeldt and have their transcripts analyzed by her PRIOR to applying to the program.

Applicants must be available for intensive full-time course enrollment and full-time employment in a Nebraska school district throughout the EACT program and must meet UNO admission requirements for Graduate Studies.

  1. You must hold a B.S. or a B.A. (a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.7).
  2. Be admitted to the UNO Graduate College - M.S. in Elementary Education - ACT Concentration. Apply to grad school at UNO.
  3. Have taken or plan to take the Praxis II (Test #5017).
  4. Submit all application materials via the Elementary ACT Application. Applicants will be asked to attach unofficial transcripts from all universities/colleges attended and an updated résumé.
  5. Pass a required background check (responsibility of hiring school district).
  6. Interview with EACT Director.
  7. Adhere to district application and interview process. Candidates who receive job offers from more than one district are able to select the best fit position.
  8. Attend the EACT orientation in May after acceptance.
