About Sofia

Current Program: M.S. in Biomechanics
 
Undergraduate Degree & Institution: B.S. in Human Physiology, University of Oregon, 2024
 
Research Interests: Sofia’s current research is primarily focused on analyzing the shooting mechanics of lacrosse athletes. Her other research interests include cutting and landing mechanics during change of direction of sports, and how movement mechanics may be altered through wearable devices. 
 
Personal Background: Sofia is originally from Portland, Oregon, and before pursuing graduate studies, worked with clinical populations as a Physical Therapy Aide. Her long-term goal is to be able to apply biomechanics research to better inform sports product design. In her free time, she enjoys hiking, sketching, and listening to music.
 
Fun Fact: Sofia has had her motorcycle endorsement since she was 17.
