Senior Q&A

What are your ultimate career goals?

My ultimate career goals are to really just find what I'm passionate about, enjoy the people I work with, and always continue to learn and grow as a person. The idea I have for what I am passionate about right now is in public accounting. I really enjoy the job I have and I can see myself in this career path for a long time. Ever since high school I have also always been curious and interested in possibly becoming a forensic accountant. I am not sure if that is supposed to be in my career path yet, but I would enjoy getting to experience that area of accounting.

What experiences have been most valuable to you in the Scholars Academy?

The experiences that have been the most valuable to me in the Scholars Academy are the people I have met, the push to get out there and explore all different career paths, and the opportunities we have been given because of the Scholars Academy. I am so thankful for the people I have met through the Scholars Academy, whether that was through my fellow peers, mentors, or professionals at events. Not being from Omaha this piece really made me feel at home when I came here and the connections I have made are more than just for my career I really have a great personal and professional support system and a family away from home. If it wasn't for the Scholars Academy I also definitely wouldn't have explored all of my options because I just wouldn't have known there were any and I wouldn't have had as many doors opened for me without the opportunities we are given.

Who is the person who has influenced you the most?

The person who has influenced me the most are my parents because they have shown me that I can do anything as long as I work hard for it and that not everything is meant to be and that's ok. They have also shown me that what is most important in picking a career is that you enjoy it and that it is not about the money even though that's a nice perk. I can't thank them enough for the support and encouragement they have given me throughout the years. They really have pushed me to become the business professional and person I am today.
