Senior Q&A

What will you miss most about the Scholars Academy?

What I will miss most about the scholars academy will be the people. The scholars academy is compromised of highly self-motivated and successful individuals. Being in an environment where everyone is constantly striving for success in return makes you want to succeed. Everyone is also extremely friendly and always willing to help one another. It is rare to find a large group of individuals who love friendly competition, but also want to uplift those around them.

Why should a high school student consider applying to the Scholars Academy?

The academy is a great opportunity to know the individuals you will be taking classes with for the next four years. Each semester the Scholars Academy provides individuals at least one course to take with their cohort. These courses are typically taught by the best professors and offer challenging material. These courses allow cohort members to challenge one another and build essential skills. Along with the benefits of having a cohort, each year you receive an Omaha business professional as a mentor. The academy does its best to pair business professionals to the interests of each academy member. Allowing you to begin building your business network long before graduation.

What is your favorite book?

One of my favorite books is by Barbara Corcoran, “Shark Tales: How I Turned $1,000 into a Billion Dollar Business." This is one of my favorite books because it talks about the different trials and decisions Corcoran faced throughout her life. However, no matter what drawbacks she faced in her business, she always kept true to herself and her employees. For every obstacle, Corcoran was able to come up with a creative solution.
