  4. About Us

The International Studies (INST) major at UNO is an interdisciplinary program designed to help students develop an appreciation of the diversity of cultural, political, economic, and social systems, and explore innovative and sustainable solutions to a wide array of contemporary challenges facing the global community in the 21st century. As a major, you will take courses in programs such as Political Science, Economics, Sustainability, Religion, Foreign Languages, and in area studies. Most INST students combine their program of study with service learning, internships, or study abroad opportunities. Majors work together with an advisor to design an interdisciplinary sequence of courses in one of the following area concentrations: Area Studies (Africa, Asia, Europe, Latin American, and Middle East), Global Strategic Studies, and Global Management and Business Leadership. The degree is individualized, flexible, and marketable.
