Parking at UNO

See details on the Drop-off and Pickup page.

Safety is of the greatest importance at Aim for the Stars. Parking procedures reflect the combined efforts of UNO Parking Enforcement, UNO Public Safety, and the director of Aim for the Stars to ensure the safety of your children. Please inform those dropping off and picking up children of the instructions and map found on the “Drop-off and Pickup” tab on the website. These instructions will be emailed the week prior to the start of your child’s camp.

Lunch

Each day, all campers need to bring a sack lunch, a refillable water bottle, and their own afternoon snack.

Behavior Policy

Aim for the Stars strives to meet every child where they are. We hire teachers who are Nebraska certified or in an education undergraduate/graduate program so campers have the best leadership possible during camp. We go over expectations on the first day of camp each week and expect campers to follow directions and be respectful and accountable for their behavior during camp. The following steps will be used to address any camper behavioral issues:

  1. Verbal Reminder: Campers will be asked to stop a disruptive behavior by the camp teacher.
  2. Environmental Change: Campers will be removed from the area and may be asked to sit out one activity. The director will be notified that this step was taken by the camp teacher.
  3. Behavioral Report: A verbal or email account of the disruptive behavior will be given to the guardian.
  4. end Home: A camper will be sent home if the behavior is repeated. They will be allowed to return the next day.
  5. Removal from Camp: If the behavior happens again after the previous four steps have occurred, the camper will not be permitted to return to the rest of the camp. No refund will be issued.

Disruptive behaviors are classified at the discretion of the camp teacher and the Aim for the Stars director. Ultimately, the behavior will be deemed disruptive if it negatively affects the experience of other camp participants or puts themselves in danger.

Examples of Disruptive Behavior:

  • Talking while others are talking
  • Refusing to participate in activities
  • Throwing items, destroying UNO property
  • Bullying or aggravating other campers
  • Using hurtful language; cursing, name-calling, derogatory remarks
  • Inappropriate touching; hitting, kicking, punching
  • Using cell phones, smart watches, gaming devices, or other personal electronic devices at inappropriate times
    • The AFTS staff cannot monitor every child's use of personal technology
    • Devices are expected to remain in lunch boxes or backpacks throughout the day including drop-off in the morning and lunch and recess
    • If a child has been asked to put away their device, the next time it is out, it will be confiscated by the director or site supervisor until the end of the day
