As the mid-term season approaches, the stress can feel overwhelming. You’re not alone. There are services available on campus, including the UNO Health Center and Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS), to help manage your mental health.

To help manage the demands of the mid-term season, try incorporating these mental health strategies:

  • Establish a routine: Structure is essential during high-stress periods. Stick to a consistent study schedule and be sure to factor in downtime for relaxation and sleep.
  • Stay connected: When stress levels rise, it’s easy to withdraw. Make time to catch up with friends, attend a study group, or even call a family member or supportive person.
  • Practice mindfulness: Mindfulness techniques like meditation, deep breathing, or even taking a short walk can help keep you centered and focused.
  • Prioritize sleep and nutrition: Late-night study sessions are common during mid-terms, but try to balance your workload with self-care. Quality sleep and nutritious meals will give you the energy and focus to perform your best.
  • Set realistic goals: It’s important to set achievable goals, especially during an intense period like mid-terms. Break larger tasks into smaller, manageable steps to avoid feeling overwhelmed.
  • Use campus resources: Don’t hesitate to take advantage of UNO’s mental health resources if you’re feeling stressed. A wide range of support is available to help you manage the mid-term crunch.

If mid-term stress is affecting your mental health more than you anticipated, reach out for support. The UNO Health Center offers psychiatric medication management, and UNO CAPS can provide skills and support as you navigate your mental well-being during demanding times

Schedule an appointment with the UNO Health Center by calling 402.554.2374 or visit our website to learn more about our services.
