Objective/Purpose

This project aims to help DHS understand the changing threat to the homeland by developing risk and threat assessment tools for counterterrorism and terrorism prevention practitioners. In particular, the research team is focusing on four interrelated factors:

  1. Tactical and operational decision-making;
  2. Demographics of perpetrators;
  3. Ideology; and
  4. Chronology of events/decision-making

Methodology

This project uses empirical case study analysis of terrorism cases in America and U.S. court documents to understand the current state of terrorism and develop practitioner tools.
