Frequently Asked Questions
When Should I apply?
You can apply up to a year out from your desired start time, the sooner the better to ensure you have time to get everything done. Graduate school applications have varying but specific timelines, when reviewing programs look for the application deadline.
Do I have to send all of my transcripts to admissions?
Yes, UNO requires official transcripts from all previous institutions attended. This includes military transcripts from Community College of the Air Force, Defense Language Institute and Joint Service Transcripts.
Do I need to send my high school transcripts?
It depends, students coming directly from high school or without graded transfer credit WILL need to send an official copy of high school transcripts to admissions.
I have a copy of my transcripts, can you accept those?
Unfortunately, we can't. All transcripts need to come directly from the school to the university.
How will my military credit transfer?
That depends, UNO is committed to evaluating ALL transfer credit, including military credits. However, how it is applied to your degree will depend on the major you choose. Ask your MCRC for more information.
Do you have scholarships and grants available?
Yes, the first step to qualifying for many grants is to complete the FAFSA each year. Then you may also apply for additional scholarships in our student information system, MavLINK.
Do I qualify for in-state tuition?
Possibly, we grant in-state tuition to many of our students. Ask your MCRC if you are a candidate for in-state tuition.
Do I need to pay my enrollment deposit?
You are responsible for the enrollment deposit, however it isn't due until after classes begin. If you plan on using VA benefits or qualify for financial aid, the enrollment deposit may be covered by your aid and benefits.
When should I apply for my VA Benefits?
As soon as you decide where you are going to school, you should apply for your VA Benefits at va.gov then contact your MCRC for next steps.
How much will UNO cost?
All costs are based on many variables, you can view the breakdowns or contact the MCRC for more detailed information.
How do I access orientation?
Orientation is online, to access the orientation, you will sign up either as a first year student or transfer student, the sign up should be linked in your MavLINK account in the "to-do" section.
