About the Committee

UNO's Sustainability Committee, formed in October 2013, is a group appointed by the Chancellor to promote sustainability efforts on the UNO campus.

UNO defines sustainability as using resources wisely and engaging in actions that: are environmentally friendly, socially responsible, and financially feasible; and benefit present and future generations of people.

Mission

  1. To identify sustainability opportunities and to develop a recommended action plan for each,
  2. To integrate sustainability with campus operations, education, and outreach, and
  3. To engage the campus in an ongoing dialogue about sustainability.

Center for Urban Sustainability

The Center for Urban Sustainability works with university administration, faculty, staff, and students to heighten awareness for and identify, implement, and assess sustainability practices across the campus.

The mission of the center is to advance urban sustainability education, research, and partnerships across the community, the region, and planet.
