Committee on Committees Committee
The Committee on Committees shall serve as a broad coordinating body for the faculty senate. The committee shall take an active role in the delegation of issues to appropriate committees.
The Committee on Committees shall also be responsible to the faculty senate for recommending faculty for membership on university committees, standing committees, faculty committees, and ad hoc and advisory committees. The Committee on Committees shall use the following guidelines to develop the faculty membership of committees:
- Every effort will be made to distribute the faculty membership of committees proportionally by college.
- Every effort will be made to maintain continuity of membership on committees where possible or appropriate.
- Every effort will be made to apprize faculty members of openings on committees and to allow them an opportunity to express a preference for committee assignments by means of an annual survey of the entire faculty or other appropriate procedures.
- The Committee on Committees shall make the final appointments to standing committees.
- Temporary appointments to other committees not to exceed 60 days may be made without prior senate approval.

RESOLUTION 4390, 10/9/19: Academic Freedom & Tenure Committee: Motion from Committee on Committees. In accordance with Article VIII.B.1 of the Faculty Senate Bylaws, the ballot distributed to all faculty for election to the Academic Freedom and Tenure Committee shall include the following nominees: two tenured faculty members to be elected from the following four nominees to serve three-year terms from October 16, 2019, through October 19, 2022, to replace Anne Fruhling (IS&T) and Janice Rech (A&S), whose terms will expire, Matt Germonprez (IS&T) (71 For); Robin Gandhi (IS&T) (108 For); Carol Ebdon (CPACS) (141 For – Elected); Chris Allen (CFAM) (151 For – Elected). one tenured faculty member to be elected from the following two nominees to serve a one-year term from October 16, 2019, through October 21, 2020, to replace Laura Grams (A&S), who will be on sabbatical for the academic year 2019-2020, Lisa Scherer (A&S) (139 For – Elected); Adrian Duran (CFAM) (103 For). and one untenured faculty member to be elected from the following two nominees to serve a three-year term from October 16, 2019, through October 19, 2022, to replace Vivien Marmelat (HPER), whose term will expire: Tenace Kwaku Setor (IS&T) (67 For), Miriam Kuhn (ED) (174 For – Elected).
Resolution 4387, 9/11/19: Professional Conduct Committee: In accordance with Article VIII.B.3 of its bylaws, the UNO Faculty Senate has elected by ballot vote from the two nominees brought by the Committee on Committees, both tenured faculty ranked assistant professor or above, the following faculty member to serve a three-year term from September 17, 2019, to September 21, 2022, as a member of the Professional Conduct Committee, replacing Daniel Kissinger (ED), whose term expires as he becomes an alternate. The newly elected member will also serve a following three-year term September 21, 2022, to September 17, 2025, as an alternate, available should the need arise in a particular case. Jay Irwin (A&S). Furthermore the Faculty Senate has elected from these nominees brought by the Committee on Committees, both tenured faculty ranked assistant professor or above, the following faculty member to serve a three-year term from September 17, 2019, to September 21, 2022, as an alternate, replacing Juan Casas (A&S), who has assumed the role of Associate Dean for Graduate Studies, Rami Arav (A&S).
Resolution 4386, 9/11/19: Faculty Grievance Committee: Motion from Committee on Committees. RESOLUTION 4381, 7/10/19: Committee on Committees: RESOLUTION: UCRCA (University Committee on Research & Creative Activity): BE IT RESOLVED that the following name go forward as a three-year appointment, from 08/1/19 through 07/31/22, to replace a member who is completing his term as an At-large member on the UCRCA (University Committee on Research & Creative Activity): Shannon Cummins, (to replace Dustin Slivka).
RESOLUTION 4379, 5/8/19: Election/Appointment of Chair of the Committee on Committees/Rules: BE IT RESOLVED, that according to the Article V.A.2 of its Bylaws the Faculty Senate elects Senator Sajda Qureshi as 2019-2020 Chair of the Committee on Committees.
RESOLUTION 4375, 5/8/19:Standing Committee Chairs:BE IT RESOLVED that 2018-2019 and 2019-2020 members of each standing committee except the Committee on Committees have met according to the Bylaws of the Faculty Senate of the University of Nebraska, Article VIII.A.2 and elected these 2019-2020 chairs or, if unable to do so, selected their summer representative to the Executive Council. RESOLUTION 4346, 9/12/18: UNO Professional Conduct Committee (Ballot Election by Senate) BE IT RESOLVED, that in accordance with the Faculty Senate of the University of Nebraska at Omaha Bylaws, Article VI.5.3, Professional Conduct Committee, the following faculty members are brought forward by the Rules Committee for ballot election by the senate. BE IT RESOLVED, that two representatives will be elected by ballot vote from the following four nominees to serve a three-year term from September 16, 2018, through September 15, 2021, to replace outgoing members, Scott Glasser and Robert Ottemann, whose terms will expire. In accordance with Section 1.1 of the University of Nebraska at Omaha Professional Conduct Committee's Rules and Procedures, the following four nominees (all tenured faculty ranked assistant professor or above) are brought forward by the Committee on Rules for ballot election by the full senate as follows: Chin Chung (Joy) Chao (CFAM) (18 For) ELECTED, Lotfollah Najjar (IS&T) (5 For), Sajda Qureshi (IS&T) (16 For), Carey Ryan (A&S). RESOLUTION 4313, 9/13/17: UNO Professional Conduct Committee BE IT RESOLVED, that in accordance with the Faculty Senate of the University of Nebraska at Omaha Bylaws, Article VI.5.3, Professional Conduct Committee, the following faculty members are brought forward by the Rules Committee for ballot election by the senate. BE IT RESOLVED, that one representative must be elected by ballot vote to serve a three-year term from September 16, 2017, through September 15, 2020, to replace outgoing member, Amanda Randall, whose term will expire. RESOLUTION 4277, 10/12/16: Professional Conduct Committee BE IT RESOLVED, that in accordance with the Faculty Senate Bylaws, Article VI.6.3, Professional Conduct Committee, the following faculty members are brought forward by the Rules Committee for ballot election by the senate. BE IT RESOLVED, that one representative must be elected by ballot vote to complete the three-year term (September 16, 2014 through September 15, 2017) of Carolyn Gascoigne, who has left the University. BE IT RESOLVED, that two representative must be elected by ballot vote to serve a three-year term from September 16, 2016, through September 15, 2019, to replace outgoing members, Jodi Kreiling and Robert Woody, whose terms will expire. In accordance with Section 1.1 of the University of Nebraska at Omaha Professional Conduct Committee's Rules and Procedures, the following four nominees (all tenured faculty ranked assistant professor or above) are brought forward by the Committee on Rules for ballot election by the full senate as follows: Juan Casas (Psychology, A&S) (16 Votes), Daniel Kissinger (Counseling, ED) (29 Votes) Amy Rodie (Marketing & Management, CBA) (11 Votes), Victor Winter. RESOLUTION 4271, 9/14/16: Faculty Grievance Committee (for Senate vote) BE IT RESOLVED that in accordance with the Faculty Senate of the University of Nebraska at Omaha Bylaws, Article VI.5.1, Faculty Grievance Committee, the following faculty members are brought forward by the Rules Committee for ballot election by the senate. RESOLUTION 4257, 5/11/16: Presidential Appointment of 2015-2016 Rules Committee Chair BE IT RESOLVED that according to the Bylaws of the Faculty Senate of the University of Nebraska, Article VI, Section 5.6, the senate president appoints the following senator 2016-2017 Chair of the Committee for Rules: Robert Nash.
RESOLUTION 4227, 10/14/15: Academic Freedom & Tenure Committee BE IT RESOLVED, that in accordance with Article 6.5.2 of the Faculty Senate Bylaws the following nominees for the Academic Freedom and Tenure Committee are brought forward by the Rules Committee for senate nomination. The ballot will be presented to the UNO Faculty. One tenured faculty member will be elected from the following two nominees to serve a three-year term from October 16, 2015, through October 15, 2018, to replace Vincent Woolf, whose term will expire: Rami Arav (74 votes), Gwyneth Cliver (Elected with 133 votes). And one Non-Tenured Faculty member will be elected from the following two nominees to serve three-year terms from October 16, 2015, through October 15, 2018, to replace Arturo Miranda, whose term will expire: Alecia Anderson (Elected with 126 votes), Adam Rosen (80 votes). And, due to Ramon Guerra’s being awarded tenure, one Non-Tenured Faculty member will be elected from the following two nominees to complete his three-year term from October 16, 2013, through October 15, 2016: Anastasia Kyvelidou (Elected with 108 votes), Arturo Miranda (98 votes).
RESOLUTION 4221, 9/9/15: UNO Professional Conduct Committee (ballot election by the senate) BE IT RESOLVED, that in accordance with the Faculty Senate of the University of Nebraska at Omaha Bylaws, Article VI.5.3, Professional Conduct Committee, the following faculty members are brought forward by the Rules Committee for ballot election by the senate. BE IT RESOLVED, that two representatives must be elected by ballot vote to serve three-year terms from September 16, 2015, through September 15, 2018, to replace outgoing members, John Erickson and Art Diamond, whose terms will expire. In accordance with Section 1.1 of the University of Nebraska at Omaha Professional Conduct Committee's Rules and Procedures, the following four nominees ( all tenured faculty ranked assistant professor or above) are brought forward by the Committee on Rules for ballot election by the full senate as follows: Scott Glasser (14) (elected), Guoqing Lu (13), Lotfollah Najjar (9), Robert Ottemann (18) (elected). The newly elected representatives will also serve as alternates for three-years from September 16, 2018, through September 15, 2021. Melissa Berke will continue serving as alternate (replacing Joe Bertinetti) for three-years, from September 16, 2014, through September 15, 2017, per Resolution 4011. AND BE IT RESOLVED, that one representative must be elected by ballot vote to complete the last year of a three-year term as alternate through September 15, 2016, to replace Shereen Bingham, who has resigned from the committee. RESOLUTION 4220, 9/9/15: Faculty Grievance Committee (ballot election by the senate) BE IT RESOLVED that in accordance with the Faculty Senate of the University of Nebraska at Omaha Bylaws, Article VI.5.1, Faculty Grievance Committee, the following faculty members are brought forward by the Rules Committee for ballot election by the senate. RESOLUTION 4214, 9/9/15: Faculty Senate College Liaisons WHEREAS the following practices initiated during the 2014-2015 Academic Year have been found useful, BE IT RESOLVED that the Faculty Senate endorses and supports their continuation: At least one faculty senator will be appointed to serve as the College Liaison with the Faculty Senate and in that capacity will connect their college with the Senate by emailing to colleagues monthly notices of relevant Senate information, conferring with their college Dean and attending college-wide meetings to maintain currency, being accessible to colleagues who wish to express opinions or concerns (e.g., post on college web site a photo and contact information); and informing the Senate of relevant events or concerns in their college; At least one faculty member of each university committee will be formally designated as a Liaison with the Faculty Senate and as such will regularly report to the Rules Committee of the Faculty Senate information about the activities and deliberations of the committee.

Resolution 2922, 9/10/08: Academic Freedom and Tenure Committee Nominees (ballots sent to all full time faculty, results reported next month): BE IT RESOLVED, that in accordance with section 6.1 of the Faculty Senate Bylaws the following nominees for the Academic Freedom and Tenure Committee are brought forward by the Rules Committee for senate nomination. The ballot will be presented to the UNO faculty. Two tenured faculty members will be elected from the following four nominees to serve three-year terms from October 16, 2008, through October 15, 2011, to replace John Noble and Carey Ryan, whose terms are expiring: James Shaw (tenured), Robert Smith (tenured), Juliette Parnell (tenured), Jayaram Betanabhatla (tenured).
