At its heart, the William Brennan Institute for Labor Studies (WBILS) exists to engage with the community at a local and statewide level. Our staff believes passionately in sharing information that will enhance the common good, and we’re always looking for venues to talk and engage with the community.

For the past 15 years, WBILS has reached beyond the labor movement by sponsoring the Nebraska Works! conference (formerly, Promoting the General Welfare Conference). This brings labor leaders together with community leaders, faith-based organizations, social work professionals, students and faculty, all with the goal of getting to know one another better and expanding the boundaries of our democracy.
