Advanced Materials and Devices Manufacturing Lab, BRB 135 and BRB 111
This lab focuses on using advanced manufacturing techniques to design materials with properties fine-tuned to various biomechanical applications. These include synthetic cardiovascular grafts and stents, wound dressings, filtration materials, protective and sports clothing, etc.
Soft Tissue Characterization and Analysis Lab, BRB 111
This lab performs detailed mechanical and structural analyzes of soft tissues, including biaxial mechanical testing, histological assessment, advanced imaging, and constitutive modeling of tissue behavior. Specific emphasis of this lab is on human arteries.
Imaging and Computational Biomechanics Lab, BRB 147 and BRB 135
This lab performs medical image analysis and computational modeling of biomechanical processes, such as the behavior of the cardiovascular system under various physiologic conditions, interactions between arteries and surgical implants, and virtual surgery planning.
Biomimetic and Biomedical Materials (BBM) Lab, BRB 111 and BRB 109
The focus of the BBM lab is to develop and study new materials with specialized properties for biomedical applications. Of particular interest are mechanically biomimetic materials and their effects on biomechanics and mechanobiology at the cellular, tissue, and organ levels.
