Senior Q&A

What impact has this program had on your career goals?

This program has connected me with high-achieving students, successful community professionals, and empowering UNO staff and faculty who have all helped shape me into the person I am today. I came into college not knowing exactly what areas I wanted to focus my business career within but learning about these individuals’ experiences and advice has helped me narrow my focus and feel confident in my ability to achieve a great career.

If you had to choose the most memorable experience or moment in the program, what would that be?

The courses taken with other scholars. The coursework of these classes challenged me to dive deeper into business topics alongside other driven scholars. These classes also fostered collaboration between scholars through unique projects. Some of the most memorable being presenting to a local nonprofit how it could improve its operational and marketing efficiency, brainstorming how companies could create more inclusive work environments, and making fun music video covers of popular songs using economic terms.

What advice do you have for current Scholars?

My advice for current scholars is to try as many new things as you can during your university experience. You may discover new interests, learn new skills, or gain great advice from experienced individuals. Step out of your comfort zone and see what you discover about yourself. Who is the person who has influenced you most? As a first-generation student, the continued support of my parents and older brother has been influential throughout my life. Their encouragement has always driven me to want to succeed and take on new challenges. I am extremely grateful for them and will always appreciate their positive influence.
