About the Department of Accounting
The UNO Department of Accounting is dedicated to providing high quality educational experiences, supported by continual curriculum improvement, and service to the following constituencies: our students, the UNO College of Business Administration, employers of our students, regional business, government, and non-profit organizations, our faculty, and our profession.
About Our Programs
Accounting study at UNO includes emphasis in many areas of accounting to provide individuals with the skills needed for the diverse array of career choices in the accounting field as well as an excellent foundation to pursue CPA certification or other types of certification.
Our undergraduate program is the accounting concentration for the Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree and includes required and elective courses in financial and managerial accounting, taxation, accounting information systems, auditing, governmental and non-profit accounting, and information systems auditing. Qualified undergraduate students who also complete our 30-credit-hour Master of Accounting program will meet the CPA Exam education requirements in Nebraska.
Our Beta Alpha Psi chapter has received the Superior Chapter designation for the past five years. Many of our students take advantage of internship opportunities with local CPA firms and other business, government, and non-profit organizations.
Alumni and others support the UNO Department of Accounting and our students and faculty by funding scholarships and professorships, attending events sponsored by the Department and by Beta Alpha Psi, and by serving on our UNO Accounting Advisory Board.
