UNO accounting students engage in high quality and practice-relevant learning experiences provided by experienced, engaging, and well-qualified faculty. Opportunities for accounting scholarships, internships, and membership in the Beta Alpha Psi honor society are available to encourage and recognize scholastic excellence. Accounting alumni have successful careers in auditing and information systems, financial accounting, tax accounting, and governmental and non-profit accounting and hold one or more professional certifications.
Undergraduates who are interested in becoming Certified Public Accountants should consider completing the 30-credit-hour Master of Accounting (MAcc) degree at UNO to meet Nebraska's educational requirements to take the CPA Exam.
UNO’s Department of Accounting maintains AACSB International’s specialized accounting accreditation.
We are one of fewer than 190 universities worldwide with both AACSB business and accounting accreditation — a testament to our high quality undergraduate and Master of Accounting programs and our outstanding faculty, students, and staff.
UNO’s Department of Accounting also has received the IMA's Endorsement of Higher Education for its management accounting curricula. UNO's accounting programs meet the educational standards enabling students to pursue the Certified Management Accountant (CMA) credential.
UNO is the first university in Nebraska and one of less than 60 universities worldwide to receive this prestigious Endorsement.
