Microcredentials are short-form courses that equip learners with in-demand skills to fill critical workforce gaps.

They’re ideal for working professionals, career changers, students, or anyone looking to quickly upskill without committing to a full degree program.

Microcredential courses vary in length. Some are short and can be completed in a week, while others take 6 weeks to finish. Most require 3–5 hours of work per week and can be completed at your own pace.

UNO microcredentials are non-credit courses, but they offer valuable skill-building and a digital badge to show what you’ve learned. Some may align with future learning pathways.

You can browse and register directly from the UNO Microcredentials website. New courses are added regularly.

Creating a Microcredential Course

  1. Identify Skill Gaps: We begin by looking at what skills are needed in your workforce or industry
  2. Market Research: Next, we research the topic to understand the audience, the competition, and how the course can stand out.
  3. Identify SME (Subject Matter Expert): We find a subject matter expert (SME) who knows the topic well and is ready to help build the course content.
  4. Course Development: The SME works with our team to develop the course. This includes creating materials, designing activities, and preparing everything needed for students.
  5. Course Launch: Finally, we publish and promote the course so your learners and others can enroll and start building their skills.
