Augmented Reality Supported Intelligence Operations to Prevent Terrorism and Targeted Violence

Objective/Purpose

This purpose of this project is to develop artificial intelligence (AI) / augmented reality (AR) technology to seamlessly integrate real-time information, task, and decision support into the workflow of DHS’ workforce. The team aims to collect DHS intelligence user requirements, develop design documents, use AGILE guided software development of the AR system (building on Year One’s architecture), identify and address security and usability gaps, validate the technology with a homeland security and law enforcement working group, and prepare for technology transition.

Methodology

The team will integrate findings from field investigations and literature reviews into development of the user interface and system architecture of the AI/AR system. Using AGILE development methods, one group will focus on user interface and cross-platform functionality while another group focuses on the backend framework. Separately, a student team will focus on technology transition and commercialization.
