Counterterrorism Innovation
- NCITE prioritizes student innovation. The University of Nebraska at Omaha’s IT Innovation Fellows are fully funded to innovate for a user-inspired Homeland Security challenge. The master’s students will create new IT innovations to be used by law enforcement and others in Homeland Security-related counterterrorism fields for their final graduate project capstones.
- NCITE engages top scholars in innovation and design-thinking to get into the heads of terrorists. Scholars from Penn State University will design a series of studies to see how to disrupt the thinking of would-be terrorists and prevent them from carrying out acts of violence.
- NCITE extends what we know about BAAD (Big Allied And Dangerous) groups to study domestic groups engaged in terrorism and targeted violence. Researchers at SUNY-Albany lead the pack on the study of violent organizations, and we have them in our consortium to extend their work to those threatening us right here at home.
