Our Mission and Commitment

The Human Resources Department at the University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO) is dedicated to fostering a workplace that upholds excellence, fairness, and merit-based employment practices while ensuring compliance with all applicable laws. What We Do

The Human Resources Department provides comprehensive support and guidance in the following areas:

  • Talent Acquisition & Workforce Development – We strive to attract and retain top talent through outreach across professional networks while ensuring that all hiring and promotion decisions are based on merit, skills, and experience.
  • Employee Support & Engagement – We offer training, professional development, and well-being resources to help employees grow in their careers and contribute to UNO’s mission.
  • Workplace Policies & Compliance – We provide clear policy guidance to maintain a work environment that is legally compliant and welcoming to all individuals.
  • Payroll Services – We manage payroll operations for all UNO employees, including student workers, staff, and faculty, ensuring accurate and timely compensation.
  • Employee Benefits Administration – We oversee a comprehensive benefits program, including health, dental, and life insurance, as well as leave programs such as FMLA, Workers' Compensation, and other ancillary benefits, ensuring employees have access to the necessary resources needed to support their well-being.
  • Compensation & Job Classification – We conduct job evaluations and salary reviews at the individual, department, and campus-wide levels, ensuring that job descriptions remain current and compensation is equitable, competitive, and aligned with market standards.
