Call for Panels, Workshops & Tutorials Details

On behalf of the ISCRAM 2023 Conference Committee, we take great pleasure in inviting you to submit a proposal to host a workshop and/or tutorial. We hope to welcome you to the Annual ISCRAM 2023 conference in Omaha, NE (USA). We invite you consider showcasing your work to a small, focused group of ISCRAM researchers and practitioners while enjoying Omaha hospitality.


DETAILED CALL FOR PANELS, WORKSHOPS & TUTORIALS

The aim of the workshops and tutorials is to allow researchers, technologists, practitioners, and funding agency representatives, to interact, learn, and discuss specific, emerging topics for crisis management, including methodologies, software, and other related technologies.

Potential contributions include the following (we also welcome other innovative ideas to make an engaging workshop experience for the attendees):

  • Specific technical advancements and emerging technologies for crisis management
  • New ways of applying existing technologies for crisis management
  • Innovative/applied research methodologies for crisis management
  • Software tutorials and demos used in crisis management or modelling

Practitioner-researcher task co-design and validation session

Personalized rapid prototyping and evaluation with the help of practitioners

Dialogue between practitioners and researchers

Dialogue between practitioners and researchers on specific topics, focused on the information needs of responders in various scenarios

Research grant accountability and practical research impact

Different government agencies interested in accountability and evaluation processes for research on crisis management

Assistive technologies for underrepresented groups

Understanding the design challenges and technology requirements of individuals with special needs, such as children or those with disabilities

Other

Topics and formats that are not listed here but are appropriate for ISCRAM and that would potentially generate interest from ISCRAM members

Planning and Preparations

  • It is recommended to relate the workshop to the overall theme of this year’s ISCRAM: “Building Humanitarian Technologies for our Emerging Future + Building Resilient Societies” if relevant.
  • Plan for a 2-3 hours physical workshop, tutorials up to 4-5 hours, remember breaks!
  • After acceptance: Prepare a website for promoting your workshop/tutorial and providing more information for potential attendees.
  • A 500 page extended abstract for the workshop/tutorial will be included in the proceedings.

  • Submission deadline: February 20th, 2023
  • Workshop/Tutorial acceptance: February 28, 2023
  • Workshop/Tutorial announcement (with url to workshop webpage) on ISCRAM 2023 website: March 15, 2023
