About Omaha Area Youth Orchestras (OAYO)

Ensembles

OAYO proudly presents the only music education program of its kind in the area. Our orchestras and chamber music ensembles provide high-level musical instruction and performance opportunities including concerts, outreach events and retreats.

We create a musical community that fosters artistry and friendship in an environment that promotes discipline, cooperation and leadership.

History

Founded in 1958, OAYO was born through a joint partnership between the metro-area public schools and the Omaha Symphony Guild.

65 years later, OAYO has been building a pipeline of musical talent and patrons who appreciate the arts.

Staff

After launching in 1958, OAYO had grown into an independent nonprofit organization governed by a volunteer Board of Directors and talented professional staff.

In 2024, OAYO went under the umbrella of the School of Music at University of Nebraska Omaha (UNO).

OAYO Exemption
