About the Next Gen AI Studio

The NextGen AI Studio: From Learners to Creators is designed to introduce artificial intelligence concepts to students in high school through engaging, hands-on learning experiences. Our curriculum makes complex AI concepts accessible and relevant to young learners, preparing them for a future where AI literacy will be as essential as digital literacy is today.

Through a combination of creative projects, collaborative challenges, and expert guidance, students will develop computational thinking skills, understand AI fundamentals, and explore the ethical implications of these powerful technologies. Our approach emphasizes learning by doing, with students creating their own AI-powered applications and solutions.

  • Langflow: A visual tool for building LLM applications with a drag-and-drop interface
  • Make: An integration platform that allows students to connect AI tools with other services
  • OpenAI Playground: Interactive space to experiment with language models and fine-tune prompt behavior
  • Google Colab: Cloud notebook for running Python code and building AI experiments seamlessly

Our mentorship program pairs each student with an experienced instructor and peer mentors to provide comprehensive guidance throughout the program and beyond.

Frequently Asked Questions

The NextGen AI Studio offers programs for high school sophomores, juniors, and seniors (grades 10-12), first-year and second-year college students, and UNO majors across all disciplines.

No prior coding experience is required. Our curriculum is designed to meet students where they are, introducing concepts progressively. Complete beginners will receive the foundational skills they need, while students with prior experience will be challenged to expand their abilities.

Students will learn age-appropriate AI concepts, computational thinking, programming fundamentals, data literacy, and ethical considerations in technology. The curriculum includes hands-on projects where students apply these concepts to solve real-world problems.

This in-person AI program for high school juniors and seniors offers project-based learning on our campus with professional mentor support and remote lab access.

Yes, we believe in the importance of family engagement in technology education. Family members are invited to attend final presentations where students showcase their completed projects.

Beyond technical skills, our program emphasizes critical 21st-century skills like critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, and communication. Students will develop an AI mindset that prepares them for future careers, whether directly in technology or in fields increasingly impacted by AI.
