the-plains-maynard-dixon-1.jpgThe Plains, an oil painting on canvas was painted by Maynard Dixon in 1931.

"Give me the plains, the barren and sun-beaten plains! Free in the vague indeterminate murmur of winds, High on the arched and tremendous back of the world, Alone and close up under the skies...

... And know that it knows me! Up from the grass to the sky, From the skies again back to the grass... I go to the plains!

Give me the plains, the lonely and rain-beaten plains! There no escape, nor to hide from the all-seeing heavens."

Join Us for Happy Hour Dinner!

October 18, 2024 | 6:30 - 10 P.M.

HLS 2024 wants to maximize networking opportunities while showing you Omaha, which Food & Wine recently described as one of America's "next great food cities." Therefore, we have decided to organize an "apéro dinatoire," roughly translated as a "happy hour dinner," at Omaha's famous French-inspired restaurant, Le Bouillon, from 6:30 - 10 P.M. on Friday, Oct. 18.

The menu changes seasonally, so we cannot provide an exact menu at this time. However, based on our experience organizing and attending events at Le Bouillon, we can tell you that you will leave more than satisfied! (You can expect food options for all common dietary needs). To participate, please Venmo organizer Chris Jacobs (aka C.J.) $40. We are asking for payment by Venmo because the restaurant requests payment by credit card, and the general HLS account is not attached to one. The forty-dollar fee includes food, gratuity, and venue fees. You can purchase alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks separately. Please contact event organizer C.J. at jacobsc@unk.edu with questions. Au plaisir de vous recevoir bientôt!
