  3. Middle East Forums

The Middle East Forum is an initiative of the Middle East Project Fund, the UNO Schwalb Center for Israel & Jewish Studies and the UNO Islamic Studies Program. The Forum is held three times per semester where a panel of experts discusses current events in the Middle East. We encourage students, faculty and community members to bring their questions about the Middle East for an open and fascinating dialogue.

Past Events

Feb. 13, 2020 | Where Does Turkey Stand in U.S.-Iranian Relations?

Feb. 15, 2018 | Will the United States defend the Kurds in Syria? Why does Europe reject President Trump’s recognition of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel? What is the future of Egyptian democracy?

Jan. 19, 2017 | A panel of experts discussed the recent UN vote on Israeli settlements, the ongoing tragedy in Aleppo, and a look at the relationship between the Middle East and U.S.

Feb. 16, 2017 | The forum was dedicated to discussing the executive order to suspend visas and immigration and how that will affect the U.S. standing in the Middle East.

Sept. 28, 2017 | Discussions on: Did Russia win in Syria? Is the Two-State Solution Dead? How did the Saudi move against Qatar change US foreign policy toward the Middle East?
