UNO Departments of Religious Studies and History

The Department of Religious Studies and the Department of History at UNO offers a diverse array of courses in Jewish, Israel and Middle East Studies which include:

The Center for Israel and Jewish Studies will enable UNO to further expand course offerings, providing the opportunity for a minor in Israel and/or Jewish Studies.

University of Nebraska Foundation is a private, non-profit corporation securing financial support for each of the four campuses of the University of Nebraska since 1936. The foundation bridges relationships with alumni, friends, corporations and other foundations interested in academic excellence for the university.


Jewish Federation of Omaha
Jewish Federation of Omaha promotes and enhances the quality, welfare and continuity of Jewish life in the Omaha community, Israel and throughout the world. There are several agencies at the Jewish Federation that will contribute greatly to the success of the new Center for Israel and Jewish Studies at UNO:

  • The Center for Jewish Life offers classes and programs in current events in Israel, basic Judaism courses, community lectures, cultural arts events, an annual Jewish Film Festival and Hebrew language classes.
  • The Dorothy K. and Meyer S. Kripke Jewish Federation Library provides an attractive, comfortable, accessible and fully-wired research and study environment for the Omaha Jewish and general community. The Library’s resources comprise a wide variety of Judaic materials with over 50,000 volumes, including Jewish periodicals, DVDs, videos, CDs, large print books, talking books, teacher resources and Russian language resources. The knowledgeable library staff offer users specialized information assistance and services.
  • The Jewish Federation of Omaha Foundation, which manages its endowed and donor advised funds.
