Somewhere between your morning coffee and your third scroll through LinkedIn, AI became a topic you cannot avoid. The trouble is finding a room where it gets talked about in a way that actually lands.

MAV AI Day on June 5 is open to anyone. You do not need a background in technology to walk in. You just need to show up. Here is what is on the table that day, who is leading it, and why it might be worth your Friday.

What This Day Is

UNO's AI-CCORE, the AI Center for Collaborative Outreach, Research and Education, is hosting a full-day public forum at the Barbara Weitz Community Engagement Center. Doors open at 11 a.m. The event runs until 6 p.m. It is free and open to the public. It brings industry partners, researchers and community leaders together for keynotes, panels, live demos and the conversations shaping the next decade of AI. The focus areas are finance, responsible AI and health.

The 1 P.M. Block You Should Know About

The town hall sessions are the most distinctive part of the day.

Two tracks run at the same time. AI in Health. AI in Finance. The format is designed for depth and exchange, not one-way presentations. That means you can ask questions, push back, and have an actual conversation about how AI is being applied in two sectors that affect real outcomes for real people.

Everything Else Happening That Day

  • 11 AM : AI Project Gallery. Meet the builders behind real applied AI projects.
  • Noon : Networking Lunch. One hour, mixed crowd, good food.
  • 2:30 PM : Keynote, Panel and Certificate Ceremony. The flagship moment of the day.
  • 3:30 PM : AI Exhibit opens. Four interactive stations: Art, Ethics, Timeline and the AI Maker Arena.

The exhibit is not a pop-up. It is UNO AI-CCORE's community AI exhibit, opening to the public for the first time on June 5 and staying open after.
AI-CCORE runs hands-on AI programs at UNO including bootcamps and the NextGen AI Studio. The public exhibit opens these kinds of experiences to the broader community.

Who Is Running This

MAV AI Day is led by Dr. Mahadevan Subramaniam, Director of AI-CCORE and Chair of the Computer Science Department at UNO's College of Information Science and Technology. Co-leading is Dr. Victor Winter, Deputy Director of AI-CCORE and Professor of Computer Science.

June 5 also marks the official public launch of AI-CCORE as a regional collaboration hub focused on health, finance and responsible AI.
