UNO Sustainability Minor to Host Sustainability Speaker Series Fall 2019!

The inaugural lecture for The Sackett Sustainability Speaker Series will take place Wednesday October 16, 2019 from 5:30 - 7:30 in CEC 230/231. Penny Sackett, UNO alum and founder of the series will present "Living as if we have a Future on this Earth." Faculty are encouraged to incorporate readings selected by Dr. Sackett to accompany her lecture into their classes. For copies of the readings or for more information please contact Dr. Julie Pelton, Sustainability Minor Director, at jpelton@unomaha.edu.

The Sackett Sustainability Speaker Series is intended to stimulate interdisciplinary discussion, debate, and engagement around issues of sustainability, the environment, and society. We bring creative, engaging thinkers and problem-solvers to campus in conjunction with Campus Sustainability Month each October. Speakers in the series will support UNO efforts to find sustainable solutions to environmental challenges such as resource management, climate change, waste reduction and disposal, environmental degradation, ecosystem and habitat destruction, as well the social and ethical issues surrounding these challenges. The series features a common reading, film, or creative work which interested students, faculty, and staff are invited to examine in advance of the presentation or panel discussion. All members of the UNO community and the general public are welcome to attend this speaker series, which is sponsored and hosted by the Sustainability Minor in the College of Arts and Sciences.
