Kelly Gomez Johnson, Ed.D., is an expert in K-16 STEM education and educator preparation and professional development.

Biography

Gomez Johnson, the named Dr. Hollie Bethel Professor of Education, is the current department chair of Teacher Education. Her teaching, research, and service focus on effective and equitable K-16 teaching, learning and leadership practices.

She has served as a PI/Co-PI on various federal STEM education and local educator preparation grants attracting over $15M. In 2021, she was awarded UNO’s campus-level Excellence in Teaching Award and served as the inaugural UNO STEM TRAIL Center Leadership Faculty Fellow. She currently serves on the Nebraska Association for Colleges of Teacher Education (NACTE) and NACTE governance committee as well as the executive and conference committees for the Nebraska Women in STEM organization.
