- Multicultural Outreach Coordinator
Originally from Niobrara, NE, James earned his Bachelor of Arts in Biology from Morningside University in Sioux City, IA in May 2016. He is currently a Master of Arts Candidate in the Higher Education Administration Program at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. James moved to Lincoln, NE in December 2017 to begin his journey in higher education and student services. As a Native American and Vietnamese individual from a limited income household and a first-generation background, James experienced firsthand the obstacles that many students face today navigating their way through college. This is where James’ passion and dedication to assist students from underrepresented backgrounds and marginalized groups stemmed from.
James worked in the Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid and Husker Hub at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln for the past three years to ensure that students’ business side of their college experience was taken care of. James’ personal and professional experience has led him to the Office of Multicultural Affairs with the University of Nebraska at Omaha. He looks forward to being an advocate for diversity, equity, and inclusion and is excited to work with students, faculty, staff, and families on new and existing initiatives that will help all students transition into college and make their journey as smooth as possible.
