Stress & Worry, Be Gone!
Finals…we all stress about them, and sadly, we can’t run away from them. Students hide away at the library until closing hours, and nobody seems to hang out with friends. It seems like we are pushing all the energy we have left to close out the semester in the best way possible. While this is true, there are some things you can do to make sure you are prepared, and have a good rest of the semester.
Be prepared for your finals
This includes many things, but more specifically it helps a lot to manage your time. Time management is key when going in to finals, because it sets up the basis for how you study, when you will study, and how to execute this plan. So you may be asking, “What does this look like?” Well, for someone who has about four finals and has some that overlap, it would start by recognizing your course load. This means that if you have a tougher time with Chemistry because it is more time demanding than Intro to World Religions, it would be best to spend more time studying for Chemistry. This is also means that you should be planning out study time on your calendar and making sure it aligns well with work and free time. Lastly, make sure that you review the material a lot every day, because if you review the material once, and cram, it won’t work as well as if you study in advance.
Make sure you are sleeping well
One of the biggest things we underestimate in our college careers is sleep. For some people, going to bed is not in their regular schedule and instead studying all night happens instead. But, in order to well in finals you should make sure that you are sleeping well every night. Studies have shown that someone who sleeps before a test instead of cramming and getting no sleep, not only has a better health and state of mind, but they tend to do better on tests. Sleep is so important for these stressful times, and it’s fun! So make sure to get a good night’s sleep before your exams!
Since the anxiety and stress fills the university at this time, De-Stress Fest are events that go on throughout these days to let students have fun and unwind! So far, we have seen events like a hip-hop dance event, movie night, yoga, giveaways, and even free coffee. They are located throughout campus, and some of the events, like pet a puppy, are sure to put you in a good mood. So, if you know that you are feeling down and stressed out, look at the page of events listed below and go to some to have a good time!
