Bio
Tyler is from Cortland, NE, and is studying civil engineering and mathematics. His non-profit experience includes partnering with the Open Door Mission. As part of a community action project, his team is currently implementing a web-based appointment display board at the Thompson Men's Center. The team hopes that this technology will eventually be used by the entire homeless community in the Omaha area. The team is also brainstorming ideas to improve volunteer interest and retention efforts at the Open Door Mission. His leadership experience includes serving as vice president and secretary of the Earthquake Engineering Research Institute. He is also the current treasurer of the UNO Rugby Club. His internship experience includes working at Hensel Phelps, where he worked in the estimating department for their Pacific District. In doing so, he carried the responsibility of performing quantity takeoffs and calculating self-bid estimates for future project inquiries. Also, he was responsible for coordinating with subcontractors by informing them of upcoming bids, receiving their bid proposals, and confirming that their prices encapsulated the entire scope of work. This summer, he will be performing structural design work as a civil engineering intern at Black & Veatch Corporation's Power team. His career interests include geotechnical and structural areas of civil engineering. He plans to obtain his professional engineer license after graduation.
