Experiences and Involvement
As Overhead Transmission Intern with Burns and McDonnell, Katrina used transmission computer programs to create new towers, poles, and line designs and worked in a wildfire safety program to replace at-risk lines. She has also held engineering internships with Whiting-Turner and Kiewit, where she managed projects and learned engineering software.
She was involved in a Community Action Project, with Sisters in STEM aimed at inspiring middle school girls to pursue careers in STEM fields.
Katrina is involved with American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) at UNO, where she has served as treasurer, vice president, and president. She has worked in the UNO Structures Lab as an undergraduate research assistant, testing concrete materials and structures and assisting with engineering experiments.
Katrina is skilled in programs like Civil 3D, Revit, PLS-CADD, PLS-POLE, PLS-TOWER, Navisworks, ArcMAP, On-Screen Takeoff, Plangrid, and Inventor, and is familiar with overhead transmission line design, resource management, construction project management, scheduling, and estimating.
Career Interests
Katrina is interested in construction and engineering design as a career and hopes to learn about aviation and terminal design projects, as well as commercial revitalization projects.
