Jacob is from La Vista, NE, and is studying computer engineering. His non-profit experience includes partnering with Prairie STEM. As a community action project, his team is developing a way to distribute education STEM kits and instructions to students who don't have reliable internet access at home. Their solution is to house a server in the Prairie STEM trailer, where students will be able to connect to the trailer's WLAN network and download the necessary resources. His internship experience includes working to further develop the Arc Printer, a revolutionary and cost-saving design for a 3D printer. He was responsible for designing several mechanical components, budgeting, scheduling, sourcing part suppliers, and programming the firmware that runs the machine. This summer, he will be with STEMBoT Inc. as a computer engineering intern. His career interest includes developing other concept designs with his team, such as GYBLI, a portable, compact laser engraver. He would like to focus on the field of 3D printing and the firmware that powers those machines to help conventional 3D printers achieve non-conventional prints.
